Monument to Composer Aleksandr Aleksandrov to be Set up in Moscow

Moscow authorities plan to set up a monument to Alexander Aleksandrov - the founder of the Russian Army Academic Ensemble of Song and Dance.

      According to the order signed by the Moscow mayor Sergey Sobyanin, the monument to the well-known composer will be put up in Zemledelchesky Lane in the center of Moscow in the beginning of 2014. The well-known composer Alexander Aleksandrov (1883-1946) made a considerable contribution into the Russian and Soviet culture. In particular, he became the author of music for the Soviet Union anthem, which later came to be used in the anthem of the Russian Federation as well. Besides, Alexander Aleksandrov is the author of the well-known compositions, such as The Indestructible and Legendary and Sacred War.
