The largest archaeological expedition in Transbaikalia has found a 10 thousand year old burial ground similar to that of American Indians. Ust-Menza is a complex of archaeological monuments that has been studied for over 30 years.

Archeologists have found there traces of activity of an ancient settlement more than 40 thousand years old. In the same place they unearthed a 10 thousand year old grave of a man. It was a hole of a remarkable roundish shape 90 cm large in diameter. The body was laid down in an arched shape following the round contour. The body was covered with natural ochre. The archeologists’ find confirmed that people similar to American Indians used to live in Transbaikalia.
