Big spender Zenit St. Petersburg lost to FC Milan in their second Champions League qualifier. Lead by Italian coach Luciano Spalletti has failed to turn the newly-acquired stars into points – it’s still zero on their balance sheet.
Urby Emmanuelson put Milan in front at Petrovsky Stadium after 13 minutes only to be followed by Stephan El Shaarawy three minutes later.
Zenit’s super-signing, Hulk, made it 1-2 in the first half stoppage time and then an accurate header from Roman Shirokov leveled the score early in the second half.
But tonight luck was on the guests’ side, when the ball deflected from defender Tomas Gubochan earning an own goal.
