An art exhibition of Nicholas Roerich’s works from private collections opens in the International Roerich Centre in Moscow.
Altogether the exposition presents about 60 works by the outstanding Russian artist; most of them are displayed in Russia for the first time.
The exposition includes an authentic collection of sketches of scenery and costumes for works by Rimsky-Korsakov, Borodino, Wagner, and Stravinsky. Other sketches and etudes have been found also.
Nicholas Roerich created more than seven thousand canvasses. Besides, he was into science, philosophy, journalism, and archeology, was a traveler and an outstanding public figure.
The exhibition is open for visitors from October 14 to December 9, 2012.
