A sculptural composition dedicated to the films by Leonid Gaidai (1923-1993) has been set up in the circus square in Irkutsk. 

      The monumental composition imitates a shooting area and consists of two elements: in one Leonid Gaidai is staging a scene from the film Caucasian Captive and in the other part the characters Goof and Skilled are holding Coward’s hands to stop a car. 

      The sculptural composition consists of four figures made of bronze, and its weight is more than 5 tons. The figure of the film director Leonid Gaidai is twice bigger than natural size; it is 3.4 meters high while the film characters are 2.5 meters high.

      The creators of the monument plan to make a public garden around it: put up benches and make lawns. Next summer open-air demonstrations of Leonid Gaidai’s films are planned to be held there.
