Aeroflot sold its duty free chain at Sheremetyevo

Aeroflot has sold out 66.7% shares in the company ZAO Aeroferst, an operator of a duty free chain at the airport Sheremetyevo. The firm Rubis Holdings Limited was called the buyer, as The Vedomosti reports referring to an unnamed source.

The Irish operator Aer Rianta International owns the rest of the shares, i.e. 33.33%.

The sum of the deal is not revealed, but it is reported that Rubis Holding Limited has offered double as much price at the auction.

Aeroflot had to sell ZAO Aeroferst as it is its non-core asset. The company purchased 33.3% shares of the duty free chain for $ 16.4 million in May last year. By that time it had already owned another 33.3% shares.

Rubis Holdings Limited is a subsidiary of Gebr. Heinemann, which is one of the largest duty free chain operator in the world.
