Special road signs "Mind the Squirrels!" have recently appeared on several roads in the city of St. Petersburg. In particular, such signs are set near the Central Amusement Park on the Yelagin Island to secure squirrels and other small animals against being hit by cars.

According to the Village website, the signs are also set on the Sverdlovskaya embankment, as there are a lot of squirrels in the "Neva" garden and in small green zones close by one of the city's business centres.

A squirrel is one of not numerous wild animals living in big cities. According to experts, the amount of squirrels in big parks may reach several hundreds.
