The federal monument of history and architecture Utkina Dacha in St. Petersburg has suffered from fire again.
Back in August, 2012 the prosecutor's office warned the St. Petersburg mayor Georgy Poltavchenko about the negligence of the city government and demanded to take measures for saving the cultural heritage site. Utkina Dacha is one of the heritage sites that city defenders have long been drawing attention of authorities to. They have arranged pickets and protest actions to protect the perishing monument.
Utkina Dacha is an old estate located on a small hill by the confluence of Okhta and Okkervil and associated with the names of Alexander Pushkin’s beloved Anna Kern and Anna Olenina; it is one of the most valuable cultural heritage sites on the right bank part of St. Petersburg. The main building of the estate was constructed in the 1790s.
