To tackle the development needs, the Moscow Underground mulls an increase in travel fares for its passengers, the spokesperson indicated.
There are various technical needs that have to be attended by the Metro, including reconstruction works and purchase of equipment and energy.
At the same time the Metro plans to stop purchasing the carriages with air conditioning system, as passengers are unhappy with the system's inconsistency.
Previously the Moscow Mayor claimed that there may be no increase in the travel fare in Moscow in 2013, i.e. for the second year running. In 2012, the overall number of passengers who pay the full fare at the Moscow Underground has increased by 13%.
