Russian Railways forecast $ 130 million loss from 2018 FIFA World Cup

Transportation 2018 Football World Cup football fans will bring 4 billion Rubles (about $ 130 million) loss to the Russian Railways, announced the company.


      

Russia used to promise the free travelling by train for the football fans to the FIFA before receiving the right to hold the tournament. A football ticket is supposed to be used as a train ticket.


      

Earlier the train expenses were estimated much lower. Last year the Ministry of Sport and Tourism told about 1.6 billion Rubles loss for fans transportation.


      

Eleven Russian cities, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Sochi, Kazan, Nizhniy Novgorod, Samara, Rostov-on-Don, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Saransk and Moscow, are to hold 2018 Football World Cup. The distance between the most remote places, Kaliningrad and Yekaterinburg, is about 3 thousand km.
