Russian tennis players Ekaterina Makarova and Yelena Vesnina were victorious in an all-Russian final women's doubles to win the Kremlin Cup on Sunday.
Makarova and Vesnina defeated Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova, the Olympic bronze medalists, in a super tiebreak and won the match 6-3, 1-6, 10-8. The most difficult was the second set where Vesnina and Makarova were almost trashed out by their opponents.
Earlier in the tournament, Kirilenko and Petrova secured their place as the fourth and final qualifiers for the doubles event at the WTA tour championships next week by defeating Abigail Spears and Raquel Kops-Jones of the United States in the semifinal.
