Claims of the state to YUKOS exceed $ 10 bln
7.09.2004 00:00

While the whole world was keeping track of the tragic events in Beslan, the Ministry of Taxation methodically proceeded its plan of the attack of the oil company YUKOS. On the 3rd of September it became quite clear that the company would not be able to settle the claims of the Ministry.
Let us recall that a few hours after YUKOS officially declared its readiness to allow the tax claims for 2000 by the end of September, the Ministry of Taxation raised a claim for 2001 at the rate of RUR 119,9 bln and suggested to settle it within one working day.
After this the companys debt reached the amount of its current capitalization and exceeded the assumed market cost of its major oil producing core group Yuganskneftegas.
