Moscow commission on perpetuating the memory of outstanding events and figures of history and culture has approved the initiative of installing a memorial board to the writer and poet Varlam Shalamov (1907-1982).
This year marks the 105th anniversary since the writer’s birth and 30th anniversary since his death.
It is supposed that the board will be set in 2013 on House 8 in Chisty Lane, where Shalamov lived in the mid 1930s and started his literary activities. Varlam Shalamov is the author of a set of collections of poems and stories about GULAG.
