A practical and science conference "Novgorod and Novgorod Land: Art and Restoration" is taking place in Novgorod from October 23 to 25, 2012. Archaeologists, historians, museum personnel from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novgorod, Petrozavodsk, Vladimir, and Cherepovetz are taking part.
The participants plan to discuss the problems of studying, restoring, and preserving the monuments of Ancient Russian architecture, as well as the perspectives of research into the popular art and its protection.
The conference also celebrates 80th anniversary of the architect and restorator and the Honorary Citizen of Novgorod, Leonid Krasnorechiev who researched and restored over 70 architectural monuments. In 1964 he created a museum of popular wooden architecture, Vitoslavlitsy.
