Orthodox Church Plans to Evict Conservatory

The eviction notice came as a bolt from the blue for the conservatory in Nizhny Novgorod, since it had not been preceded by any negotiations between representatives of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese and the conservatory management.

“The city has no premises, where the conservatory could move”, - the conservatory director explained. Therefore it is the matter of constructing a new building, which is a labor-consuming and long process.

It became clear later that the Russian Orthodox Church is ready to wait for the new building to be provided to the conservatory at the expense of the state budget. Such an option was suggested by the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Valery Shantsev.
