The State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow will be open for visitors till 9.00 pm on Thursdays and Fridays, according to the gallery's website. The novation concerns expositions on Lavrushinsky Lane, 10 and on Krymsky Val, 10.

Currently the Tretyakov Gallery works till 7.30 pm. Monday is a day-off in all museums. The new schedule will come into effect on December 1, 2012.

Moscow museums have started working in evenings since January 2010. As a rule, the "long day" is Thursday, when museums are open till 9.00-10.00 pm. The extension of working hours in museums was made in order to increase their popularity and attendance. And if to believe the latest information, that mission was accomplished.

Besides, Moscow authorities hold a "Museum Night" event every year, when most city's museums work till midnight or even all night long, with special programs and exhibitions. Starting from 2012, on the third Sunday of each month, all museums in Moscow work without any paid tickets.
