Archeologists carrying out digging works on the site of a residential house have found ruins of a church of the pre-Mongolian period.
Quite probably it is this ancient construction that is the Pyatnitsky Church about the location of which scientists have been arguing for several decades.
Konstantin Voronin's archaeological expedition has been conducting excavations on this site for about two weeks now. Remains of this church have been found next to other ruins approximately in the same place there is the destroyed tower of a fortification wall that was known as Pyatnitsky Gate.
Apart from the bases of the church and the tower the experts have unearthed sepulchers and a timber construction dating back to the 16th century.
