The well-known ballet Ivan the Terrible staged by Yury Grigorovich will be shown on the main stage of Russia after a 22-year-long break.
The premiere of the ballet performance set to Sergey Prokofiev's music for Eisenstein's famous film Ivan the Terrible took place in the Bolshoi Theatre in 1975. Since then the ballet has been repeatedly shown on the best stages around the world.
Ivan the Terrible has made a long way to return to the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre. Since February, 1975 when the ballet premiere successfully ran in Moscow, the performance was staged twice in Grand Opera in Paris, the Krasnodar Ballet Theater, and the State Kremlin Palace. But it has not been on in the Bolshoi since 1990.
Ivan the Terrible ballet will run on the historical stage of the Bolshoi Theater from November 8 to November 14.
