The popular Russian actor and TV host Ilya Oleynikov has died, aged 65; it is another big loss for Russian culture.
Ilya Oleynikov (born Ilya Klyaver) was born on July 10, 1947 in Kishinev. In 1965 he entered the Moscow State School for Circus and Variety Art, and then served in the Soviet army. From 1974 to 1990 he worked in LenConcert as a spoken word comedian. In 1968 Oleynikov made his film debut.
The comic TV broadcast Small Town (Gorodok) which he hosted together with Ilya Stoyanov became Oleynikov's most popular TV project.
