A new Samara stadium for the 2018 FIFA World Cup will cost 10 billion roubles less, as it will be moved from the historic centre to the outskirts of the city.
The government of Samara region plans to reduce the cost of the stadium for the World Cup 2018 significantly. It has become possible, as the project will be moved from the historic centre to the outskirts of the city – the Radio Centre village. Nikolai Merkushin, the governor of the Samara region, confirmed this decision considering it to be both economical and practical, as it saves over 10 bln roubles.
It was also announced that a new broadcasting radio station would be constructed on the territory of the Radio Centre. It is possible that the construction will have been finished by December 2016, and will cost over 13.5 bln roubles.
At the same time, two isolated training grounds for the teams will be built, fulfilling all the FIFA requirements. And what is more, the transport system of the city is going to be reconstructed and improved.
Finally, the governor announced that modern housing complex with its entire infrastructure will be constructed in the Radio Centre village.
