The 2-metre Bronze Sailor Will Appear In Vladivostok
Vladivostok

The sailor, born in the USSR, will wear bell-bottoms and boots with platform soles.

The bronze figure that will be installed in Vladivostok soon is already planned in minor details. The image of the monument will bring people back to the end of the seventies and the beginning of the eighties - an epoch of shortage of goods in the USSR. Being a sailor one could buy the fashionable clothes abroad. This monument will present a good-looking and smiling slightly man of 25-30 with medium-length hair. He will be extremely fashionably dressed in a jeans jacket, bell-bottoms, a T-shirt, and boots with platform soles. The sailor will even have a pack of cigarettes, sunglasses and gramophone discs.

It is planned that the bronze sailor will be over two metres high. The place for the Soviet sailor has been already chosen, and the installation of the monument is announced to be a part of the program called “Improving the artistic look of Vladivostok city district in 2012-2016”. The whole work will cost about two million roubles.
