The “Golden Mask” festival will take place in Moscow from the 1st of March till the 15th of April 2013. The award ceremony will be held on the 16th of April at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre.

As Maria Revyakina, the director general of the festival announced, 148 nominees would pretend to get the award. The Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre and the Mariinsky Theatre are known to get the largest number of nominations.

Almost half of the nominees are Moscow theatres, others are from the regions. Special emphasis has been put on provincial theaters this year. Forming the list of nominees, the experts watched over 608 performances at the theaters and on video recordings from different parts of Russia. 

Out-of-competition program “Mask Plus” will be organized for the 5th time. It will involve the productions from the CIS and Baltic countries, as well as Europe and the USA.

"Golden Mask" was established in 1994 by the Union of theatrical figures of Russia. Ever since, "Golden Mask" is regarded as a professional award for the best work of the season in all theatrical genres.
