On the 21st of November the exhibition of Russian contemporary art was opened in the British capital  for the first time – it is named “Breaking the ice: Moscow art 1960-80”. The exhibition presents the works of such leading Russian artists as Ilya Kabakov, Vitaly Komar, Alexander Kosolapov, Gregory Bruskin, Leonid Sokov, Erik Bulatov, Oscar Rabin, Oleg Tselkov.

The administrator of the exhibition and the head of the charity organization "Tsukanov Family Foundation" Igor Tsukanov said that no exhibitions of this size have ever been organized in London. Tsukanov`s intention was to provide the key to understanding of what these artists were doing and why they did it. For this purpose he chose a special method - dividing the most famous artists into seven groups, each with its own theme. What Tsukanov wanted to introduce to the foreign audience were not just the names of artists and individual works, but mainly the themes their works were on - which was, by the way, the basis of the exhibition.

The exhibition will be open for the contemporary art lovers until the 24th of February, 2013.
