The exhibition of young artists` works named "Social Networks” opened on Friday, November 23 at the Museum of Modern Art "Erarta" in St. Petersburg. It demonstrates the specifics of the Russian perception of social networks to the visitors.
Social networks proved to be attractive for the young artists, as they have become an integral part of people's lives. According to the artists` opinion, social networks are "the most advanced and relevant mass media" for almost everybody, and also they can be the tool of the "class struggle".
The most common theme for the variety of paintings became the "userpic" or the avatar - as a new form of the portrait genre. As the organizers of the exhibition observe, the key work of this exhibition will be the picture of Alexei Chizhov "Peaceful fields", which was conceived by the author as an interpretation of the classic Soviet paintings of Andrew Mylnikov, 1950.
