"The Heart Of the City" In Perm
29.11.2012 12:09

A new art object - "The Heart of the City" will appear in Perm. It will be located on the corner of Petropavlovskaya and Popova streets.

The Museum of Modern Art PERMM saw the opening of the exhibition "Anonymous". The event presented the new art object that will decorate the city from June 2013. The sculpture "The Heart of the City" will become a kind of mass medium that every single second tells the townspeople the statistics of urban events. Imagine that some excavations have been made in the city. Suddenly, a heart was found in its centre, not far from the esplanade. Only veins and arteries are replaced with pipes, wires and so on. And this heart lives, it will change, it will show who is born, how much water is consumed, how many people there are over there, how many SMS messages are sent.

The visualization of the data of such kind is a completely new trend. That is a place, where it is possible to feel the pulse of the city. The metaphor is simple: the city is also a living organism. This is what the director of PERMM Marat Gelman said about the new art object.
