Moscow-Petersburg Highway has been totally blocked for traffic, the sources report. The extreme situation is caused by snow and rain.

      The traffic jam several miles long is also aggravated by the heavy-weight lorries travelling between two cities.

      Travellers are recommended to use other transport means to get to the northern capital while the road situation persists.
