Bakhrushin Theatre Museum and international fund "Academy Arco" present the exhibition project "Anton Chekhov`s Theatre" in the Italian capital in "The House of Theatres". The exhibition is a traditional exposition that is based largely on Chekhov's photographic archive of the museum.
The exhibition presents the history of the most important five plays of the author: "Ivanov", "The Seagull", "Uncle Vanya", "Three Sisters", "The Cherry Orchard". The visitors will see the sketches and scenery models made by outstanding artists, including Victor Somov, Valery Leventhal, David Borovsky, Mart Kitaev, Sergey Barkhin. The best examples of Russian stage design disclose the importance of Chekhovian drama for the history of Theatre. Chekhov`s figure in the context of the history of Russian Theatre and Russian Theatre through the prism of Chekhov`s works – this is the angle that allows the world to apprehend the value of the great playwright.
The second section of the exhibition is devoted to the stage versions of Chekhov's short stories. In addition to the exhibition two home performances will be shown to the public.
