Russians plan to spend some 381.7 euros on New Year celebrations, up 8.6 percent on last year's figures, according to a survey by Deloitte.
Spending on gifts will go up 7.1 percent to 173.9 euros, entertainment will see an 17.9 percent increase to 64.6 euros, while food and drinks to see the New Year in will set an average Russian back for 143.2 euros, up 6.8 percent.
Talking of what they wanted to get as a present, most respondents chose money, then comes a travel opportunity, and a smartphone.
Now of course we have to remember that average Russians in Moscow are very different from average Russians in the north or in Siberia, for example, where living standards are lower and the New Year budget might be lower, too.
