As one of Russia-IC’s earlier reports indicated, Russians favour banking deposits over other forms of savings and investment.
Banks are keen to draw some extra cash onto their deposits by offering improved terms on existing range of deposits or introducing new seasonal deposits. 17 out 50 Russian top league retail credit institutions have spiced up their product line with winter special deposits. Among them are Raiffeisenbank, MDM bank, Russian Standard, Nomos-Bank, Vozrozhdenie and others.
According to experts, increased rates are more appealing than pleasant but insignificant souvenirs or champagne bottles that were handed out by banks earlier. Among exceptions are Binbank which has promised a thermocup to those who place 100,000+ roubles on a deposit before New Year, and Nomos-Bank that offers a gift certificate worth 1,000 roubles for an online book store.
