More than 1,000 couples from Moscow took all possible efforts to tie knot on this century's last “magic date,” - 12/12/12, a spokeswoman for Moscow registry offices reports.

"This year, the “magic” date coincides with Russia’s Constitution Day. About 1,012 couples applied to get married in Moscow registry offices.

“Magic” dates are very popular among young people in Russia, who believe that the unique number will bring them happy marriage. Similar "wedding booms” were registered on “special days” in previous years all across Russia. On November 11, more than 1,100 couples decided to register their marriage in Moscow only, two times more than on other November days, which are usually not very popular for holding wedding ceremonies.
