Exhibition Soviet Venus has been opened in the Moscow exhibition centre Worker and Kolkhoz Woman located in the tower base of the famous sculpture at VDNKh.
The exhibition displays panorama of life of that epoch with an emphasis on sublimation of eroticism that was not allowed openly in it.
The show presents 120 paintings, sculptures and posters. Among them there are Kat’ka (1918) and Model (1937) by Vladimir Lebedev, linocut Seaman and Dear Lady (1926) by Boris Kustodiev, and College Student and Girls of Metro Building by Alexander Samokhvalov. Viewers can observe the expression of femininity and appeal in eyes, poses and gestures of the heroines of these artworks, the major topic of which is the construction of new time.
The project was created by curators of the Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg in 2007. It is presented in Moscow for the first time. The exhibition runs till February 3.
