The Manege Exhibition Hall has opened a popular exposition about the Soviet industrial design of the 1950s-1980s.
With great enthusiasm the organizers display the fact that contrary to a diffused opinion the Soviet design existed – not all creative efforts were spent on the outer space and defense. The Soviet Design exposition is aimed at rehabilitating the designers’ idea of the post-war USSR represented with the subject of material culture and every-day household of the Soviet citizen.
The exhibits were collected from designers, their successors and heirs or simply bought via internet. At the same time the organizers recorded interviews with leading figures, who are alive, for instance, the chief designer of the Moskvich Factory Mr. Zaitsev or the graphic artist Mr. Akopov, who had created the trademark identity of the Moscow Olympics-80.
The show runs till 20 January 2013.
