The Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport has signed a contract with Nordic Yards for the construction of two emergency and rescue ships with a capacity of 7 megawatt after the company's bid proved the least expensive.
Under the deal, Nordic Yards have 810 days to design and supply the two vessels. Delivery is scheduled for 2015.
The ships, 86m long and 19m wide will be employed in rescue efforts, cleanup operations after oil spills, fighting fire, towing and other semanding functions.
