Proper shape, luxurious crown, 30 meters of height – this is the main Christmas tree of the country that has been cut in the Dmitrov district of Moscow region. The tree has been selected for more than six months: its height, proper shape and luxurious crown were taken into consideration.

The age of the beautiful tree is almost 100 years. Today it is the main character of the holiday, slender and green. This Christmas tree had grown there for 110 years before it became the main tree of the country, pleased many generations of residents of the nearby housing estate during winter holidays.

The casting for the main Christmas tree of the country began in the summer. It was a tough selection process, almost like a beauty contest involved several nominations: the height of the tree should be not less than 30 meters, but even more important things were its pyramidal shape and bushy branches, as it is often depicted on holiday cards. The challenger was selected among 19 suburban forest areas. The specialists examined and compared nearly 500 trees. They say this one only narrowly escaped the death during the invasion of ruthless bark beetles which had killed all the neighboring old trees.
