Shavkat Abdusalamov's Exhibition Opened in St. Petersburg

An art exhibition of Shavkat Abdusalamov is held in the Sheremetevsky Palace of St. Petersburg.

He is known not only as an artist, but also as a film director, a writer and a film artist. Abdusalamov showed his talents at many filmmaking sets - from Stalker to Agony. Parallels with the cinema esthetics can be seen in his paintings as well. Abdusalamov's works are full of metaphors and allegories: they are parable paintings. The exposition includes more than hundred works. The artist’s creativity has been presented on such a large scale for the first time in Petersburg.

Characters of his pictures are similar to their creator. His friends call him the last dervish of the past century. He allowed all to photograph his works freely. The more his Universe expands the more hearts he will manage to light – and that is, probably, the main sense of his life.
