The unique collections of paintings and ancient art of Murom Historical and Art Museum are under the threat of disappearance. The museum cannot receive visitors in the halls with the leaking roofs. Zworykin mansion where the museum is located requires complete reconstruction: even hardwood floors have never been changed since the construction of the house. One more serious problem is the strengthening of the slope of the gully into which, in fact, the monument of architecture is slipping. According to the preliminary estimates, all work will require about 200 million rubles. At the core of the museum's collection are the collections of famous Russian archaeologists, Murom collectors of antiquities. The funds of the museum possess about 90,000 items. The main building of the museum is Zworykin mansion where Vladimir Kuzmich Zworykin, the world-renowned scientist and the "father of television" was born and spent his youth.
