The Russian director from Chechnya Inal Sheripov intends to start making a screen version of Hamlet in Japan.
The leading roles of the future feature film will be performed by local actors and, probably, the French star Marina Vladi.
“I have always been interested in Japanese culture and for a very long time I wanted to film the stories by the ingenious Japanese writer Yukio Missimo, but it did not happen” - Inal Sheripov said. - But as soon as I offered to adapt Hamlet in the Country of the Rising Sun, the well-known Japanese producer and my good friend Yasushi Fuluichi at once grasped it and now we are working on the project”.
According to the director, Japanese actors will be involved in the screen version, and it is only the role of Hamlet’s mother - Gertrude - that he intends to offer to the well-known Frenchwoman of the Russian origin, Vladimir Vysotsky's muse - Marina Vladi.
“I have already found Ophelia; she is a rising star of the Japanese cinema Chihiro Kasahara, who won the Best Actress Prize at the Monaco Film Festival in December 2012”.
