Prototype of Heroine of Animation Masha and the Bear was Real Girl

One of the most successful animated series in Russia today is Masha and the Bear, which owes its appearance to a girl, whom the artist initially wanted to depict as a hybrid of a froglet and a piglet.

The project author Oleg Kuzovkov reported that during rest on one of the Crimean beaches his attention was drawn to a little girl having inexhaustible energy, which made both her parents, and other vacationers suffer. Most of all, the artist was struck by the manner of how “the small nuclear reactor” ordered the senior children and annoyed adults. Just a few days later everyone got tired of her, whereas some people even hid from the unruly baby, InoPressa writes with reference to Frankfurter Allgemeine.

Oleg Kuzovkov got an idea to turn her into a leading character of some animated film. The investor was found after ten years in the USA.

Within a few years numerous changes took place in the series. The heroine “started talking” though in the first series there were no dialogues at all. In the market of children's goods there have appeared lots of toys representing the leads of the popular cartoon serial. Just recently the first spin-off of “The fairy tale car” has been released.

Starting from this autumn the project has involved Americans, who promised to introduce more action and pop music into the animated cartoon film, and work twice faster.
