Catherine Palace in one of St. Petersburg historic environs, Tsarskoe Selo, extends opening hours till 9pm on Mondays.
The museum thus joins The Hermitage and the Russian Museum that both also extended opening hours in response to visitors' wish to better explore the collections.
Catherine Palace is the only part of the Tsarskoe Selo complex that will accommodate late hour visits; the rest of museums will be closing at 6pm, as before.
The Palace is famous for the Amber Chamber that was restored in the early 21st c. after being ravaged during the Nazi attacks. Fifty six rooms of the palatial complex had been severely damaged in the war, of them only 32 rooms being currently restored and open for visitors.
