Prokhorov Expected To Sell Polyus Gold Shares

Businessman-turned-politician owns a 37.8 percent stake in the gold giant worth some 3.6 billion. One of the potential buyers could be another Russian billionaire, Suleiman Kerimov, who controls 40.2 percent of the company.

      
Polyus Gold shares jumped more than five percent on the London Stock Exchange on the news.

      
Polyus Gold International is the largest gold producer in Russia and one of the top 10 gold miners globally by ounces produced (1.5 million ounces of gold production in 2011).

      
The Company holds the world’s third largest gold reserves with over 90 million ounces of proven and probable gold reserves.
