China is still a major market for short-pulse lasers, the technology for which was developed by the Russian scientists in the USA, and that will be produced by the nanocentre "Technopark" (Troitsk, Russia).
PLL, “Tehnopark" and "Ulyanovsk technologies transfer centre" LLC signed an agreement on the production of these lasers in Troitsk. Picosecond (with the impulse duration of one-thousandth of a nanosecond) lasers are used for material handling and labeling of products such as smartphone cases. The material-processing market now works on high-power fiber lasers that are cheaper than other lasers, but work on a long impulse, resulting in the deformation of the material during processing. This know-how of the Russian scientists allows to process or label materials without charring and melting.
