A Unique Organ On the Historical Stage Of the Bolshoi Theatre

From now on a unique organ will sound on the historical stage of the Bolshoi Theatre. The complicated wind instrument designed specifically for the Bolshoi Theatre by the German organ-building company "Glatter-Götz" got the official permission for its use.

The instruments of this company adorn such major sites as the Moscow International House of Music and Concert Hall of Perm Philharmonic. The organ of the Bolshoi Theatre has 1819 metal pipes, hundreds of wooden pipes, 31 registers and two keyboards. The total weight of the organ is 8 tons. This musical giant was brought to the Bolshoi Theatre 1.5 years ago, which was followed by a thorough work on its assembly and installation. But, of course, the closest attention has been paid to the sound of the instrument. The tuning of all mechanisms was held under the strict control of the international experts in the field of acoustics.
