The Russian writer Vladimir Sorokin joined the short list of nominees for the British International Booker Prize this year. This was announced in the statement of the jury of the prestigious literary award issued in London.
There are ten writers from nine countries in the list of finalists. "These are the writers to whom we all owe, their works will be re-read many times”, - the chairman of the jury, Christopher Ricks said. “They have entirely different literary styles". According to Ricks, the award will be presented in London on 22 May, the winner will receive 60 thousand pounds sterling (97 thousand dollars).
The shortlist of nominees also includes the Chinese writer Yan Linke, two Americans - Lydia Davis and Marilyn Robertson, Dzhosip Novakovic from Canada, Aharon Appelfeld from Israel, Udupi Anentemerti from India and Intizar Hussein from Pakistan.
