The world-famous clown Vyacheslav Polunin will be appointed the artistic director of the Bolshoi St. Petersburg State Circus on Fontanka.


      

In addition, the charter of the circus will be changed, according to it the positions of the artistic director and the director will be two different positions. The director will be appointed later. Bolshoi St. Petersburg State Circus is the first stone stationary circus in Russia – it was opened on December 26, 1877. The initiator of the building was an Italian citizen, the head of a large circus family Gaetano Ciniselli. Since 1919 the circus has become a state circus, and in 1992 was transferred to the Ministry of Culture.
