The Posthumous Exhibition Of Oleg Vasiliev Works Will Be Held In New York

The Posthumous exhibition of Oleg Vasiliev who died on the night of January 26 in the American hospice of Minnesota on his 82nd year of life will be held in New York in the summer.


      

Oleg Vasiliev was born on November 4, 1931 in Moscow. He studied at the Surikov State Art Institute and was a member of the Union of Artists. Together with Eric Bulatov he engaged in the decoration of children's books. In 1990 he immigrated to the United States and settled in New York, later he moved to Minnesota.


      

Together with the poet Lev Losev Vasiliev became the first laureate of the "Liberty" Award established in 1999 for his outstanding contribution to the Russian-American cultural relations. In 2004 his solo exhibition "Memory speaks (themes and variations)" was held in the State Tretyakov Gallery. His paintings are kept in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, Moscow Museum of Modern Art and in private collections in the United States.
