The average salary of an employee of budget cultural institutions subordinated to the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation will reach 50 thousand rubles by the end of 2013, the Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinskiy announced.

In other regions the agency`s task is to bring salaries in cultural institutions to the average level in this or that subject of the Federation – taking into account the difference in the cost of living. "We speak about the average salary of the employees of federal cultural institutions across the country - according to the minister, 65,000 employees work there, while the cultural institutions of regional or municipal subordination employ over 500,000 people, they get their finance from regions or municipalities". The Ministry of Culture has no direct influence on them, the official said, but the Ministry has some levers of pressure: the subjects of the Federation which do not obey the presidential decree on raise in salary for Culture employees will not be allocated the funds from the state budget for restoration and other projects.
