Architectural monument House of Muravyev-Apostol in Staraya Basmannaya Street, Moscow, has been restored.
The house is a cultural heritage site of federal value, a monument of city architecture of the late 18th-early 19th century, one of the few buildings that survived the fire of 1812.
It is interesting that the restoration initiative was assumed by a descendant of the Decembrist, Christopher Muravyev-Apostol. In turn, Muravyev-Apostol noted that only authentic materials had been used in recovery work, whereas Russian antique furniture was bought at auctions. In the course of restoration original elements of the monument were successfully kept up in the maximum possible way. In cases when preservation was impossible, elements were replaced with similar parts performed according to ancient technologies. Thus the building is equipped with modern engineering communications. Presently, according to the patron, all works have been complete, and the Museum of Decembrists will be opened soon.
