1st Guards Tank Army Museum Opens in Smolensk

      Museum of Battle Glory of the 1st Guards Tank Army Decorated with the Order of the Red Banner has been opened in Smolensk.

      The museum has been settled down on the ground floor of Smolensk Garrison Officers' Club.

      The 1st Guards Tank Army Decorated with the Order of the Red Banner was organized in January, 1943 on the basis of field management of the 29th army of the North Western Front near Ostashkov City. On the Kursk Arch the 1st Guards Tank Army took up the main blow and defeated crack forces of Wehrmacht. Since 1993 the army has been stationed in the Smolensk Region.
