Art director of the Russian Bolshoi Theatre who had acid splashed in his face two weeks ago says he knows who was behind the attack.
The former star dancer for the Bolshoi Theatre, and the artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet, Sergey Filin was attacked on January 17 near his house by an unknown masked man who splashed him with acid.
Filin received third degree acid burns. He is now undergoing treatment to restore his eyesight, which doctors say he is in danger of losing. Recently, he was transferred to Germany to undergo further treatment.
Filin stated that he knew who attacked him, which he claimed was to ruin his and the theater’s reputation. He has not yet revealed any names but said he is ready to cooperate with the police in the investigation.
In his interview to BBC, Filin explained the attack was an attempt to to remove him from his job. However, he is still ready to come back and resume his role as the artistic director at the world’s most renowned ballet venue.
The police investigation is focusing on people associated with the Bolshoi as Filin has received a number of threats in the past relating to his work.
