Rosneft is seriously mulling a move into gas extraction and liquefying, said Energy Minister Alexander Novak.
He said that the oil giant can transport liquefied natural gas via sea routes bypassing Gazprom’s pipelines.
Currently, all of the gas that Russian oil companies produce is sold to the gas monopoly.
The domestic gas market is expected to come under an increasing influence of state-run companies, mainly due to the acquisition of TNK-BP by Rosneft and the creation of a joint venture with Itera.
